Grandma Sugars

Early in October, Grandma Sugars passed away. She was a remarkable lady and although we are sad she is no longer with us, we are happy that she is now with her husband and sons, whom she missed so much. We were able to see her the Sunday before she passed and had such a nice visit. She made the kids laugh and Zach and her were able to pray together.

WEST FRANKFORT — Kathleen (Simpson) Williams, 96, passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018.
She was born July 13,1922, to Thomas Adolph and Ethel Mae (Groves) Simpson.
She married Eddie Ray Williams on Dec. 28, 1939, in West Frankfort and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1992.
Kathleen is a former resident of West Frankfort, and was a devoted homemaker and wife. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, attending church and taking care of her family. Kathleen was a longtime member of Antioch United Methodist Church in West Frankfort. Kathleen moved to Normal, in 2002 to live with grandson Chris’s family where she loved to cook dinners, attend grandchildren’s sports, ISU basketball games, and church with the family.
She is survived by her brother and sisters, Jane Kincaid (Noble), Jack Simpson (Peggy), Deloris Spencer (Russel), Pat Klunk (Val), and Gayla Giacome (David); grandson, Chris Williams (Kristi); granddaughters, Roxanna Davis (Tim) and Cathy Clansen (Tom); great-grandchildren, Zach Williams (Ashley), Elena Bravo, Luba Delgado (Victor), Sofia Williams, Hillary Watkins (Nick), Noah Davis, Wesley Romack, Bradley Clansen, and Riley Clansen. She is also survived by daughters-in-law, Carol Williams and Joan R. Williams; as well as 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Ray Williams; sons, Donald R. Williams and Brad E. Williams; granddaughter Christina Leann (Williams) Woods; and 10 brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Zach Williams officiating. Burial will be in the East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Truth Books and will be accepted at the funeral home.
