We inadvertently went to Matthiessen State Park one weekend in June. We had actually set out to indoctrinate the Brendsel's in hiking what is Starved Rock, but when she showed up they were CLOSED. It had rained a bunch the week before and everything was flooded! Thankfully Matthiessen is just around the corner so we ventured over there, having not hiked it since...say... 8th grade? I honestly think we had even more fun there than we would have at Starved Rock! It was so incredibly muddy that we just gave up trying to be decent. It was such a great afternoon!
